The LSU Tigers program takes a turn in 2017-18 as Will Wade was named head coach of the program this past March after successful two-year stints at Chattanooga and VCU.

He brings his enthusiasm and his knowledge of how to motivate players to be successful to LSU. Wade is molding a team together this season of players who already have played at LSU and new Tigers with the ability to show skills on both the offensive and defensive end.

Three players who started much of last season return – senior Duop Reath (12.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game), junior Brandon Sampson (11.6 ppg) and sophomore Skylar Mays (8.3 ppg). Additionally, the Tiger coaching staff helped bring in the 16th-ranked recruiting class for 2017, including four-star high school recruits Brandon Rachal of Natchitoches, La., Galen Alexander of Breaux Bridge, La., Tremont Waters of West Haven, Conn., and Mayan Kiir of Bradenton, Fla.

The Tigers open the Maui Jim Maui Invitational against Michigan on Nov. 20, a 6:30 p.m. HT tipoff that will be televised by ESPNU.
