Alabama was honored with this year's student-designed surfboard during their game against South Carolina on Feb. 29.
A crowd of 11,112 at Coleman Coliseum showed their support as mascot Big Al was carried out on the board, designed by Alabama student Angela Greene. Big Al, the cheer squad, and Greene then posed for a picture at center court towards the end of the first half of the contest.
First-year Alabama head coach Nate Oats will be making his Maui coaching debut this November.
About Alabama and the Maui Jim Maui Invitational: The Crimson Tide will make their second appearance in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational this November. Alabama holds a 2-1 all-time record in the Tournament.
2020 Maui Jim Maui Invitational Field: The 2020 Maui Jim Maui Invitational teams include Alabama, Davidson, Indiana, North Carolina, Providence, Stanford, Texas, and UNLV. The programs heading out to Maui in 2020 boast a combined six Tournament titles, led by North Carolina's four championships. Providence owns the first-ever Tournament championship from 1984, and both the Friars and the Davidson Wildcats were members of the inaugural Tournament field. Indiana, North Carolina, and Texas rank in the top-20 all-time winningest programs. Davidson, Indiana, North Carolina, Providence, and Texas each own at least two NCAA Tournament appearances since 2015.
