North Carolina Moves to 2-0 After Defeating Chattanooga, 97-57
The sixth-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels moved to 2-0 on the young season after defeating Chattanooga, 97-57, on Sunday night in a Maui Jim Maui Invitational Opening Game in Chapel Hill.
Joel Berry led all scorers with a game-high 18 points, while Kennedy Meeks posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Four other Carolina players finished in double figures, including Isaiah Hicks (13 points), Tony Bradley (12), Kenny Williams (11) and Justin Jackson (10). Defensively, the Tar Heels forced 26 Chattanooga turnovers and held the Mocs to just 35 percent shooting. Greg Pryor led the way for Tennessee with 17 points on 7 of 12 shooting, while Casey Jones had 10.
The Tar Heels will host Long Beach State on Tuesday before facing Hawaii in Honolulu on Friday before kicking off play at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational against Chaminade on Monday. The Mocs will host Hiwassee before heading to the Maui Jim Maui Invitational Regional Games in West Point on Nov. 19-20.
