HONOLULU - The second game of the 2023 Allstate Maui Invitational saw the Purdue Boilermakers put on a dominate display in the second half against the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
PU and GU each got off to a fast start, combining for 65 points in the first half. Gonzaga made Purdue star center Zach Edey uncomfortable early, as the 'Zags forced him to take tough shots and shoot just 36% (4-11) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. Bulldogs' forward Graham Ike led the way for head coach Mark Few's team, as he scored 10 points on 4-5 shooting.
Edey and the Boilermakers would not be denied for long, as they found their stride quickly in the second half and did not look back. PU limited Gonzaga to just 28 points and 35.3% shooting (12-34) from the floor in the final frame. Edey recorded 10 of the Boilermakers' 43 points in the second half while adding 11 rebounds. He finished the game with a double-double (25 points, 14 rebounds).
Purdue is set to play Tennessee in the first semifinal game on Tuesday at 3 p.m. HT / 8 p.m ET for a spot in the Allstate Maui Invitational championship. Gonzaga will face Syracuse on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. HT / 2:30 p.m. ET for its second game.
