Texas Tech Topples Louisville, 70-38

MAUI, Hawaii (Nov. 22, 2022) — Kevin Obanor had 15 points and five rebounds, lifting Texas Tech to a 70-38 win over Louisville on Tuesday in game five of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.

Following a Jae'Lyn Withers three-pointer to open the game, Texas Tech (4-1) went on an 11-0 run to regain momentum early on. Louisville struggled to find success in the first half, shooting 17% from the field and turning the ball over eight times. Texas Tech's stout, in-your-face defense helped pace the Red Raiders to a 32-13 halftime lead.

Sparked by a Daniel Batcho dunk, Tech used a 25-0 run to solidify their advancement to the fifth-place game on Wednesday. In total, Batcho added nine points, 12 rebounds and three steals for the Red Raiders.

Withers and El Ellis both had seven points to lead Louisville (0-5), which had 18 turnovers that led to 18 Texas Tech points. The Cardinals shot 22 percent and went 3-of-18 from the three-point arc. Louisville's 38 points are the teams fewest in a game since 1981 (42 points).

Mark Adams has yet to lose back-to-back games as coach of the Red Raiders, while Kenny Payne still looks to pick up his first victory as the Louisville Cardinals head coach.
