Ohio State Rolls Past Cincinnati, 81-53

MAUI, Hawaii (Nov. 22, 2022) – The Ohio State Buckeyes (4-1) routed the Cincinnati Bearcats (3-3) in game six of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational, 81-53.

The Buckeye's Zed Key led the game with 19 points, while Bruce Thornton and Brice Sensabaugh closely followed with 17 each as Cincinnati's Ohio neighbors closed them out with an 8-0 run in the game's final two minutes and fifty-five seconds. 

Ohio State commanded a strong first-half lead (38-27), which continued into the second half (43-26) as they cruised to a comfortable margin of victory. They controlled nearly every facet of the offensive game, shooting 47 percent from the field, 83 percent from the FT line and 30 percent from three. The Buckeyes also capitalized on strong defensive play, forcing 14 turnovers and scoring 24 points off Bearcat miscues. 

Ohio State dominated the boards, outrebounding Cincinnati 42-29. 

Cincinnati shot 38 percent from the field, 60 percent from the charity stripe, and 22 percent from behind the arc. The Bearcats were led in scoring by Viktor Lakhin, who compiled 12 points and four assists in 19 minutes played.

Ohio State will take on Texas Tech tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. HST, while Cincinnati will go head-to-head with Louisville at 2:30 p.m. HST.
