Providence and Davidson fought hard until the final seconds of Game 7 of the Camping World Maui Invitational, with the Friars edging out the Wildcats 63-62.
A 12-0 run early in the first half sealed a lead for the Friars that was never forfeited during the game. The team was led by Nate Watson, who scored 22 points. The Friars committed just four turnovers all game.
Davidson's Kellan Grady and Hyinjung Lee led the team in scoring, with 17 points each. The Wildcats finished 40.4% from the field and 38.1% from beyond the arc.
The score was 57-55 at the final media timeout, making it a one possession game. Providence held the lead at 63-62 with just 33 seconds left on the clock, and made two defensive stops to secure the win.
Providence will play the winner of UNLV/Alabama in Game 11 of the Tournament on Dec. 2 at 7 pm ET.
Davidson will play the loser of UNLV/Alabama in Game 12 of the Tournament on Dec. 2 at 9:30 pm ET.
