It was Duke's toughest test to date, but the "Core Four" freshman group of Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish, RJ Barrett and Marques Bolden was all they needed to overtake Auburn. The Blue Devils used a quick start and consistent defensive play to beat the Tigers 78 to 72.
For Auburn, Jared Harper led the way with 22 point and six assists. Austin Wiley added another 17 points and nine rebounds. But the Blue Devils' quickness and fast style of play proved to be too much for the Tigers. Duke's free throw advantage of +25 and their points off turnovers (31) helped the team secure the win to advance to the 2018 Maui Jim Maui Invitational Championship.
Duke will face the winner of Gonzaga/Arizona at 5 p.m. ET in the Championship game of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.
Auburn will face the loser of Gonzaga/Arizona tomorrow at 11:30 p.m. ET in the next round of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.
