The Xavier Musketeers ended the first half with a 19-point first half lead over San Diego State. But a charging Aztecs team used an 11-point run midway through the second half to finish off the comeback and win the game by a final score of 79-74.
San Diego State shot a 51 percent field goal percentage, and relied on eight three pointers to complete the victory. The Aztecs had 17 assists, spreading the ball around to get open looks throughout the entire second half. Jalen McDaniels carried the load for San Diego State, scoring 26 points on nine of 14 field goal attempts.
The Musketeers had trouble sinking the ball after a successful run of shooting to an early lead. Although Xavier had sizable contributions from their key bench players and an advantage in the paint, the Musketeers couldn't finish it out.
