Iowa State Defeats Illinois, 84-68

Iowa State used a 50 to 29 second half surge to beat Illinois 84 to 68.
 
For Illinois, four players scored in double figures, including freshmen Ayo Dosunmu and Alan Griffin. The Fighting Illini were unable to take advantage of key moments throughout the game, shooting just 38.3 percent from the field and had 12 turnovers on the game.
 
For the Cyclones, Talen Horton-Tucker, who was heavily recruited by Illinois, and Michael Jacobson led the team with 49 points between them. The duo combined for 22 rebounds and 7 assists. Iowa State had an impressive second half, shooting a whopping 57.1 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. 
 
Illinois will face Xavier tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET in the next round of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.
 
Iowa State will face San Diego State tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. ET in the next round of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.
