Iowa State started off strong, taking advantage of key Arizona turnovers in the first half to jump to a 36 to 27 lead. The Cyclones pounded the paint, outscoring Arizona 24 to 10. Following halftime, the game followed a much different trajectory.
Arizona shot 51.7 percent from the field in the second half to beat Iowa State 71 to 66. The Wildcats shot over 40 percent from beyond the arc and shut the Cyclones down on defense to pull away with the win. Iowa State was abysmal from beyond the arc and finished the game four for 24.
