He has assembled one of the elite coaching staffs in the country that is balanced with NBA and collegiate experience and individuals who have reached the pinnacle of the game.
St. John's roster features a blend of experience, international talent and promising youth. Durand Johnson and Ron Mvouika figure to be major contributors for St. John's this season. Johnson, who transferred from Pittsburgh, averaged 8.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in his final season with the Panthers, while Mvouika averaged 6.8 points last season at Missouri State.
Felix Balamou, Christian Jones and Amar Alibegovic are the lone returnees from St. John's 2015 NCAA Tournament squad, while highly touted newcomers Malik Ellison, Federico Mussini, Marcus LoVett, Yankuba Sima, Kassoum Yakwe and Darien Williams will vie for minutes.
St. John's will take on Vanderbilt in the first game of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational Championship Round on Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2. St. John's and Vanderbilt join Indiana, Kansas, UCLA, UNLV, Wake Forest and host Chaminade in Maui at the Lahaina Civic Center from Nov. 23-25.
