The Retrievers and started out strong but then the Mustangs went on a 27-9 run to take a 34-27 lead at the half. The Mustangs didn't slow down in the second half, taking the title of Maui Jim Maui Invitational Regional Games Champions with a score of 78-65.
The Mustangs made 55.6 percent of their shots behind the arc to 21.1 percent from the Retrievers. Joel Awich led the Mustangs with 18 points, and was named the tournament MVP. Ridge Shipley contributed a season high 15 points. Joe Sherburne led the Retrievers with 19 points.
The Mustangs are now 3-2 and will face University of Antelope Valley (1-6) at home on November 28.

Austin Peay secures 91-76 victory over Northern Colorado In the second game of the day, the Austin Peay Governors took a decisive 91-76 victory over the Northern Colorado Bears. The visiting Governors came out to a fast start in the first half though the Bears kept it close, going into halftime trailing 39-38.
The second half was the Governors half, outscoring the Bears 52-38 overall and 32-26 in the paint. Josh Robinson and Khalil Davis led the Governors to victory with 17 points each. Tanner Morgan and Anthony Johnson led the Bears' scoring with 20 points each.
The Governors are now 1-4 and will face Oakland City at home on November 25.
