Kansas Takes Third Place in the 2023 Allstate Maui Invitational

HONOLULU – The third-place game of the 2023 Allstate Maui Invitational featured Kansas emerging victorious and returning to the mainland with a victory.

The first half featured back-and-forth play as each of the teams played their third game in as many days. KU and UT traded runs throughout the first 20 minutes and finished tied at 35. Kansas' star center Hunter Dickinson posted a double-double in the first half, dropping 10 points and snatching 11 rebounds. He finished the game with 17 points and 20 rebounds.

Each team continued to scratch and claw its way through the first ten minutes of the second half. The game remained all square at 49 at the 11:41 mark, after fifth-year Volunteers' guard Santiago Vescovi sank his fourth three-pointer of the game. Kansas broke out following that stalemate en route to its 69-60 victory.

Kansas leaves the Maui Invitational with a 5-1 record, and Tennessee currently sits at 4-2. The Jayhawks' next game is Tuesday back in Lawrence, Kan., against Eastern Illinois. UT will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels on Wednesday.
